Gel Nails vs. BIAB – Which is Best for You?

I’m still quite new at Tini Jane Studio, but in the last few months, I’ve been experimenting with different nail techniques. One question I get a lot is: “Should I choose gel nails or BIAB?” Here’s a simple guide for anyone trying to decide.

Gel Nails: Quick, Colorful, and Fun

Gel nails are great if you love vibrant colors and designs. They’re perfect for short- to medium-length nails and cure quickly under a lamp. They can last 2–3 weeks with proper care.

BIAB: Strong, Natural-Looking, and Flexible

BIAB (Builder in a Bottle) is ideal if you want stronger nails or need extra protection for weak nails. It can be used to extend the nail naturally, and it lasts 3–4 weeks. I love using it for clients who want a long-lasting manicure that feels natural.

3. Consider Your Lifestyle

If your nails get a lot of wear and tear from daily activities, BIAB might last longer. If you want to change colors frequently, gel nails are more flexible.

Visual suggestions:

4. Budget & Maintenance

Gel nails are usually slightly cheaper and quicker to apply, while BIAB takes a bit longer and may cost a bit more. Both require basic care:

  • Keep nails dry when possible

  • Use gloves for cleaning

  • Don’t use nails as tools

5. My Personal Tip

Since I’m still learning, I try both options on practice hands and clients to see what works best. My advice: try one type, see how it feels, and adjust next time.

Final Thought

Choosing between gel and BIAB depends on your lifestyle, nail health, and style preferences. I may be new at Tini Jane Studio, but I’m excited to help you find the right manicure that makes your hands look beautiful and last longer!
